Jeff’s History

Jeff grew up in Silicon Valley where he developed a keen interest in computers at an early age. Staying up late into the night he honed his skills on an old monochrome XT 10 MHz 8088 computer his father brought home from work. There was virtually no documentation that came with it so Jeff was forced to learn through trial and error. Hanging out at Action Computers in Sunnyvale he finally took the plunge and bought his own motherboard/CPU combo and built his first computer. Upgrading over the years to new hardware and operating systems he learned an incredible amount through this experience. Building networks and getting programs/games to talk to one another became a driving passion. He bought network gear just to gain the experience of setting it up and getting it to work.

Jeff also developed an interest in recording audio at a young age thanks to a tape recorder he received as a Christmas gift. In High School he discovered the joy of playing music after a friend introduced him to the musical works of Carlos Santana. Inspired and pockets seemingly full of money from his first job he bought an electric guitar. He soon became fascinated with digital recording and began to record himself and others. While searching for a college to attend he was introduced to Cogswell Polytechnical College (University of Silicon Valley). It offered a unique 4-year Bachelor degree program that combined digital technology and music. He knew that this was what he was looking for, something both of his talents could be utilized in.

Jeff Today

Jeff works at eCommerce company Wish as an IT network engineer where he continues his pursuit of networking and system administration.

In a prior role as the Director of Technical Operations at Universal Media Access he oversaw multiple radio stations across the west coast. He loves to learn, in fact learning is his lifelong passion. He has an insatiable desire to solve tough problems and feels an overwhelming sense of satisfaction when he does. He also excels at rapid learning and applying new technical knowledge. Jeff has a wide variety of skill sets that enable him to fill many roles and become a go-to person for any organization.
When Jeff first took on his role at Universal Media Access, he was tasked with improving the security on the front door since it was unlocked during the day and anyone off the street could walk in, which was frequent. An electromagnetic lock was already installed as well as an HID card reader but the system was not operational. Jeff talked with the previous engineer but his suggestions did not get the system working. He talked with the current engineer who also could not get it working. He read the manual, spoke with the manufacturer and searched the internet to no avail. At this point it would have been easy to give up but he started thinking of other solutions to try, he even started to have dreams about solving it. Finally, it came down to a systematic trial and error approach. Jeff tried every possible solution until he got it working. This saved the company thousands of dollars by utilizing the existing system rather than having to purchase a new one. Jeff’s perseverance and self-belief enable him to solve almost any challenge.
Outside of work, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing guitar/bass, exploring the great outdoors, and playing video games (Halo Infinite and Age of Darkness are his current favorites).
